Robyn & Michael hired me to be their engagement photographer last year. After their awesome Ft. Monroe e-session, they asked if I would photograph their Fall wedding. No brainer… ABSOLUTELY! I was soooo thrilled that they’d even consider me, so to be chosen by them had me OVER-THE-MOON excited!
The plan for their big day was to have an outdoor ceremony by the water, followed by the reception at the Boathouse (AWESOME VENUE!!) in Richmond. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned and they didn’t get their outdoor wedding due to the cold rain that rolled through!
The rain didn’t slow this party down, though! With a backup plan and positive attitudes, the ceremony was moved into the Boathouse and everyone made the best of the situation!!
We were hoping for a break in the rain to do portraits, but needed a plan B just incase, so Nick (my hubby) and I drove up to Richmond early so that we could find a spot to do them in the hotel. We got stopped by security, were given the most ridiculous boundaries of where our shooting space started and ended (the hallway may look huge, but we could only use a portion of it lol) and worked around several conference rooms filled with people, BUT we made it work. We found a little nook, away from the crazy amount of hotel traffic (I think there were 4 weddings there in the hotel!!!), and we were able to make it all happen…. What works? TEAM WORK! 😉 haha!
Despite their set backs everyone had a great time. Following their beautiful ceremony they had cocktails, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and danced danced danced!!
It was a great time for all.
Screw that nasty rain 😉
THANK YOU FOR HAVING US ROBYN & MICHAEL! I hope you two have an amazing time in NYC!!
