I truly am at a loss of words when it comes to this incredible day.
Seriously. This is probably going to be super painful for me to write, because it is SO hard for me to gather my thoughts.
When Lacey asked me to photograph their wedding in ICELAND I nearly died. I pretty much pissed myself. LOL!
” IS THIS REAL LIFE?!” I said that over and over to my husband… I just couldn’t grasp the fact that it was REAL, and it was GOING TO HAPPEN! I was in heaven – I get to travel to ICELAND… TO PHOTOGRAPH A BEAUTIFUL COUPLE… AH! AND IT JUST GOT BETTER AND BETTER as we talked about their day…. All of Lacey’s plans, and locations had me freaking.out.hard.core. haha!
Their wedding day was SO different than anything I’ve ever done – it was quite amazing.
We started the getting ready portion in their AirB&B in Reykjavik. Lacey stayed put in the bedroom for hair and makeup, while Kyle got ready in the living room. When it was time for their first look Kyle was blind folded and we drove in separate cars to Hallgrímskirkja (The Church of Iceland). People stopped and watched as Kyle saw his bride for the first time, and then cheered for them! IT WAS SO NEAT!!!
We hurried back and all climbed on a tour bus, where the hilarious and fun tour guide, gave us an awesome info on the way to falls.
Yes, to the FALLS, A FREAKING WATERFALL IS WHERE THEIR CEREMONY SITE WAS! lol
And once we got there? Lacey, like the bad ass that she is, HIKED UP IN HER WEDDING DRESS! I mean… AMAZING.
They had an intimate ceremony with their friends and family RIGHT there by that gorgeous water fall. It was so beautiful.. SO perfect. After some post ceremony photos, we hiked back down for a champagne (and WATER STRAIGHT FROM THE STREAM!) picnic which included some yummy Icelandic treats! From there, we went to Black Beach ( Reynisfjara shore) as a group – such a gorgeous site. All the tourists were taking photos of the bridal party. It wasn’t the easiest thing to photograph around everyone, but it WORKED. haha!!
After that we split up with the group and Sigga (THE AMAZING PLANNER/COORDINATOR FROM PINK ICELAND) drove us around the Country Side for more portraits. It was a dream.
We ended their day at Ghandi, and awesome restaurant, where Lacey and Kyle so kindly fed us all delicious food.
After we ate, we remembered the heart made of Lacey’s dad’s shirt, that she’d had sewn into her dress, so we went outside and grabbed some shots – LOVE that she has a piece of her daddy with her on her special day. <3 I also love that we had daylight at 10:30PM to do that! lol
I LOVE LACEY AND KYLE FOR BRINGING ME ALONG ON THIS ADVENTURE AND TREATING US SO WELL!
