G Fam, Norfolk Homecoming Photographer
Less than two years ago, I was out there at the pier for this very same family (see the blog here). Only THIS TIME they had a sweet baby girl waiting to see her daddy for the first time in 8 months, as she was only EIGHT.DAYS.OLD when he left.
Y’all… That is such a huge sacrifice. I don’t know that many people can even fathom being a part that long. Throw in being out there to PROTECT our country and the dangers our military members face… It just makes it even bigger. What our military families endure sometimes breaks my heart, BUT as a former military brat and current military spouse I know that these challenges make us STRONGER, love harder, and hug tighter.. <3
This family made it through 8 trying months, and I am SO BEYOND thrilled that he will be here to hear her first words and see her first steps. <3
The morning of the homecoming, I arrived to find Maria holding baby C. She was a little tired, but she hung in there like a trooper, waiting for her daddy!
Because Ian was a first time dad, we got to skip the larger part of the crowd because first time dad’s were some of the first off the ship!! This made my job easier and Maria’s heart a little happier 😉
When they embraced. I teared up. The way he looked at his baby girl…. ah. Tears, y’all.
THANK YOU G FAMILY FOR ALL THAT YOU DO. My family appreciates you. WELCOME HOME!!!
