DIY studio set-up

The other day I received a few messages regarding a photo of my DIY set up I posted on my Instagram!

I primarily shoot outdoors, but this VA winter has forced me to get comfortable shooting indoors, and to get creative while doing so ๐Ÿ˜‰ (we were in TX last winter, so we are used to these temps ๐Ÿ˜‰ )โ€ฆ

I needed something to use to take some photos for the contest I co-hosted with my friend Sonya from LGโ€™s Chunky Necklaces, so I created this beauty:

How was this made?

Weeeell, I bought a piece of thin board from lowes and had them cut it in half, which then created 2 4ร—4 pieces.

My hubby & father-in-law installed some hinges that create an โ€˜Lโ€™ shape when upright. This helps fold for easy storage.

We bought two large L brackets. I place one on each side. the floor sits on one side of the โ€˜Lโ€™ and the wall leans up agains the other side of the โ€˜Lโ€™โ€ฆ I clamp the board to the brackets for stability ๐Ÿ™‚

To create the faux wood floor, I purchased some vinyl flooring and applied it to one of the 4ร—4โ€™s

The top piece was left as is, so that I can use for different things ๐Ÿ™‚ (In the photo above, I used stretchy fabric and clipped them to the board with the clamps. In a photo below you see that I used decorative streamers and just hung them :))

I plan on applying matching vinyl to the other piece, and then I can add fabric, paper or whatever floats my boat on top of it in the future ๐Ÿ™‚

The molding you see pictured above is a magnetic set, which helps keep it attached to backdrops or fabric. Handy, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

The banner is just pieces of fabric tied to a string. I purchased this one on Etsy.com for about $12.. the price was worth the time Iโ€™d save hunting down fabric and tying all those knots. haha

Here are some photos of the backdrop+floor in use ๐Ÿ™‚
